IP Systems' MMS Probe has been especially designed to serve mobile network
and service providers with a high functional and reliable tool to monitor and
analyse the quality and performance of MMS services from end customers point of view. Compared to traditional
solutions it follows a new implementation approach allowing for best in class reliability and performance.
As a probe application for HP OpenView Internet Services©,
the MMS Probe enables operators to run
MMS service monitoring using a industry standard performance management systems. This avoids expenditures
separate operation or integration of non-standard systems into their performance management environments. Since the MMS Probe is a product, customers benefit from the implementation of upcoming features without additional effort.
MMS Probe comes with a full service package including consulting, installation, support and software updates & maintenance. It can be fully customised to:
- Monitor the availability and performance of MMS services
- Provide an interconnection as well as a competitor service analysis
- In time identification of performance and reliability problems with MMS systems and networks
- Isolation of performance problems
- Rich support for unattended operation mode
|
Functional example:
The probe gathers availability and performance data by periodically sending and receiving Multimedia Messages (MMs) to and from an MMSC. Upon reception of a test MM, the round trip time is calculated and logged to HP OVIS along with other data concerning timestamps, transfer rate and status.
The data can be instantly displayed on the HP OVIS dashboard or may be analysed later with HP OVIS.

Critical system states - e.g. MMSC or interconnection failures - are detected in time and can be reported to the Network-Management-Center using standard HP OVIS reporting and alarming functions. This allows to react quickly on performance bottlenecks and system failures and helps to reduce revenue loss due to system unavailability.
The MMS Probe allows for MMS transmission via WAP and HTTP (WAP-2.0). The probe supports MMS coding according to WAP/WSP versions 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. The MMS Probe allows for receiver notification using WAP push SMS and WAP push via UDP.
